Subaru Canada Announces 2021 Forester Pricing

The Subaru Forester has long been one of the leading players in the small SUV market, winning both praise and sales for its combination of comfort, performance, and affordability. But Subaru isn't planning to rest on their laurels, and has announced an all-new 2021 Forester model with new features and new pricing for Canada.

New Starting Price, New Standard Features

Subaru Canada says there will be total of six trim levels for the 2021 model, with the entry point being the standard Forester trim for sale at $28,995 and the top-end Premier coming in at $40,095.

And while higher trims offer progressively more features, even at the base level the Forester is extremely well equipped, with many great features newly added as standard, including:

  • Steering-responsive LED headlights with high beam assist.
  • Rear seat belt reminder system, so now all passengers receive a warning if they don't buckle up once the car starts moving.
  • Subaru EyeSight Driver Assist technology now expanded with extra features and added to every trim as standard.

Under the Hood

The 2021 Forester may be a small SUV but it packs a punch under the hood. Every model in the range is powered by the same 2.5L Boxer engine making 182 horsepower and 176lb-ft of torque. The power is passed through a Lineartronic CVT gearbox to symmetrical all-wheel drive, providing a smooth and responsive feel.

The result is a confident car which is a pleasure to drive, even when towing the maximum capacity of 680kg in a trailer behind.

Handling is improved even further by the standard inclusion of the Subaru X Mode technology. This system dynamically and intelligently alters the torque passed to each wheel to increase traction in a range of conditions, while also transparently modifying the brake and throttle behaviour to maximize performance and safety.

The upshot is a steadier drive with less driver effort, fewer wheelspins, and better starting and stopping on gradients and slippery surfaces.

Excellent Fuel Economy

But despite all this power under the hood, the 2021 Subaru Forester is miserly when it comes to fuel consumption, with a figure of 7.1L / 100km on the highway that's up there with the best in the segment.

Interior and Tech

Subaru is well known for providing an amazingly comfortable passenger experience, and the 2021 Forester continues with this tradition. Availability of heated seats is now standard throughout the range, every model enjoys automatic climate control, and there are multiple USB ports for charging and connection.

Infotainment is handled by a high-resolution touchscreen running the Subaru StarLink software, and also equipped with Apple CarPlay, Android Audio, and Bluetooth to handle smartphone integration and audio streaming.

Advanced Safety Tech

The Subaru EyeSight driver assist suite enjoys new features for 2021 and is now standard across the Forester range. Key features include:

  • Adaptive cruise control with lane centring.
  • Lane departure and sway warnings.
  • Pre-collision braking and throttle management.
  • Lead vehicle start alerts.
