2026 Subaru Trailseeker: A New Electric SUV Built for Adventure

Subaru is accelerating its electric transformation with the debut of the 2026 Trailseeker, unveiled at the New York International Auto Show. This all-new model is the brand’s second fully electric SUV, built for outdoor enthusiasts who demand rugged capability, practical utility, and the latest in EV technology. With its bold styling, enhanced towing capacity, and off-road-ready features, the Trailseeker is purpose-built for Canadian drivers looking to explore farther—without compromise.

An SUV Designed for Exploration

Staying true to Subaru’s adventurous spirit, the 2026 Trailseeker comes standard with Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive and offers a generous 210 mm of ground clearance. Its dual-motor electric setup—with one motor on each axle—delivers a robust combined output of approximately 375 horsepower. The result: confident off-road capability and a tow rating of up to 1,500 kg, making it well-suited for trailers, camping gear, and family getaways.

Extended Range and Simplified Charging

Equipped with a high-capacity 74.7 kWh lithium-ion battery, the Trailseeker offers an estimated driving range of 420 km on a full charge. Cold-weather performance is optimized by a battery preconditioning system, ensuring consistent charging and energy delivery even during Ontario’s harsh winters.

Subaru has also adopted the North American Charging Standard (NACS), making it easier for drivers to access a wide network of fast-charging stations across North America, including Tesla Superchargers.

Spacious Format, Everyday Functionality

Compared to the Solterra, the Trailseeker is 150 mm longer and 25 mm taller, resulting in a roomier cabin and expanded cargo space. The flat floor, taller roofline, and open interior layout offer improved passenger comfort and better load flexibility. Raised roof rails come standard, giving you added versatility for roof boxes, bikes, or outdoor gear.

Modern Design, Smart Tech

The Trailseeker stands out with modern exterior lines, a backlit Subaru emblem, and bold rear lettering. Inside, it features a 14-inch touchscreen display with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, two wireless charging pads, and multiple USB-C ports for full-device connectivity. A large central console offers practical storage and intuitive access to essential functions.

Comprehensive Safety and Driver Assistance

As expected from Subaru, safety is front and centre. The 2026 Trailseeker includes the full Subaru EyeSight safety suite, featuring:

  • Emergency automatic braking
  • Panoramic view monitor
  • Blind spot monitoring
  • Lane change assist
  • Traffic jam assist
  • Rear cross-traffic alert
  • Adaptive cruise control

These advanced systems work together to provide added confidence whether you're navigating city traffic or hitting the open road.

An Electric SUV Built for the Outdoors

With the 2026 Trailseeker, Subaru is offering a versatile, adventure-ready electric SUV that doesn’t compromise on capability. It blends rugged performance, modern technology, and thoughtful design into one all-electric package that’s perfect for life in Ontario—and far beyond.

The Trailseeker is expected to arrive in early 2026, with full details on trims and pricing to be announced closer to launch.
