2023 Subaru Forester features and specs

The Subaru Forester has been a popular crossover SUV among Canadian drivers since its first release 25 years ago. In 2023, the manufacturer stays with the tried and tested design that has won various awards, (including the Kelley Blue Book Best Resale Value and 5-Year Cost to Own Awards), and has added a few enhancements to the vehicle to make it even more desirable to buyers.

You’ll still get excellent ground clearance and a standard four-wheel drive configuration, with the Wilderness trim being the star on the red carpet. Now, all trims will have Subaru’s unique EyeSight driver assist safety technology plus a whole host of other standard technology features. So, let’s jump right in and explore more!

Trims and Pricing

Subaru has officially released that the 2023 Subaru Forester will have a starting price of $26,395. You’ll be able to purchase the Forester in six trims: the Forester ($26,395), Premium ($29,395), Sport ($30,965), Wilderness ($34,020), Limited ($33,075), and the Touring ($36,495). The estimated delivery fee for all trims is from $1,225 upwards.

The show’s star is, of course, the Wilderness, which features more enhanced components for extreme off-roading. Some added features include a higher ground clearance of 23.36cm, upgraded shock absorbers with extended coil springs, water-resistant StarTex seats, and specially designed roof rails that can support up to 363kg of outdoor gear.

Engine and Performance

All models will be available in the SUBARU BOXER 2.5-litre CVT transmission engine with a four-wheel drive configuration. The CVT technology allows the SUV to make smoother changes between gears with the added advantage of being fuel efficient.

Driving the Forester will get you approximately 14 km/L driving on the highway. This engine can produce 176 pound-feet of torque and 182 horsepower. In addition, you’ll be able to easily tow up to 680kg, while the Wilderness doubles this capacity to 1,360kg.

Technology and Safety Aids

All models are equipped with various technological features, including a SUBARU STARLINK high-resolution 16.51cm full-colour touchscreen, SiriusXM, TravelLink, mobile phone integration, and Bluetooth.

Subaru’s safety driver assist EyeSight technology is standard across all models. This award-winning safety system was updated for the 2023 model year. It includes features such as a blind-spot detection system that will apply steering controls to avoid potential collisions when driving at speeds under 80 km/h. You also get a lane-keeping assist system, a rear-cross traffic alerts system, and an automatic emergency steering system.

The Wilderness can be purchased with an optional package that includes a SUBARU STARLINK 20.32cm high-resolution full-colour navigation system, a premium Harman Kardon sound system, and a power liftgate. This package has an additional MSRP of $1,850.
