2022 Subaru WRX Sport & Sport-tech Trims review

The new Subaru collection includes two flagship sports cars, 2022 Subaru WRX Sport & Sport-tech, that define the new concept for compact racing automobiles.

The all-new vehicles from the WRX series have similarities in their designs. However, both the WRX Sport and the Sport-tech trims are customized differently to suit all tastes. Let’s check the following breakdown.

View the 2023 Subaru WRX Features & Specs

Exterior

From the first glimpse, you’ll see a sports car that’s smartly designed with curves and creases to improve the airflow for better performance. In both models, the front hood features the popular hood scoop, which is lower this time for better visibility without compromising aerodynamics.

The WRX Sport-tech model stands out with its 18-inch 15-spoke aluminum-alloy wheels and gunmetal touche. Additionally, both models incorporate the aerodynamic rear spoiler that prepares your car for any challenge.

Interior

2022 Subaru WRX Sport & Sport-tech both have a media hub near the front seat; there are two USB ports, a 12V power outlet, and a jack for your AUX cord to play your favourite music directly from your phone.

In both models, you can find the 11.6-inch multimedia touch-screen, which gives you control over every bit inside your car, including phone connectivity and GPS navigation.

Moreover, owning one of these models gives you a three-month trial subscription to SiriusXM satellite radio with Travel Link, which gives you live information about traffic, parking, fuel prices, and everything you need on your screen.

Performance

The robust turbocharged 2.4L four-cylinder engine tops the excellent performance of this car, using the Subaru-special SUBARU BOXER direct-injection technology, generating a massive pull force equal to 271 horsepower.

Average fuel consumption complements this strong engine power. Subaru WRX contributes 12.3 L/100km in the city and 9.0 L/100km on the highway for the manual transmission and 12.7 L/100km in the city and 9.4 L/100 km on the highway for automatic transmission.

Known for innovative engineering, this car is powered by SI-DRIVE technology, which allows you to control the transmission with a key push. You can easily switch between ultra-efficient and lightning-quick performance at your fingers' tip.

Technology

Cutting-edge technology runs throughout this car. Besides the rearview camera, all models have a rear and side vehicle detection system which alerts you of any approaching object outside your visibility area.

The Sport-tech vehicle is distinguished by the LED steering-responsive headlights (SRH). The SRH system adjusts the headlights as you maneuver to give you a better illumination when turning in tight corridors and casting a brighter light beam on possible blind spots.

Furthermore, this model includes a proximity key to make your access to the car faster and safer, as doors unlock only when you’re nearby.

Price

You can get all of these top-notch features at just under $40,000. The 2022 WRX Sport starts at $38,095, and the Sport-tech model starts at $39,295.
