The Crosstrek is a class leader because it stays ahead of the competition. Here, we compare it to the 2021 Kia Seltos.

The 2021 Subaru Crosstrek offers more horsepower and efficiency

Two powertrains are available in the Crosstrek model lineup; a 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine that increases horsepower to 182 and torque to 176 lb-ft. Available/standard on four models, this adds an extra boost to the AWD system.

Other Crosstrek models feature a 2.0-litre four-cylinder that outputs an impressive 152 horsepower with an AWD fuel consumption rating of 8.5/7.0 L/100 km (city/highway). In comparison, the Kia's most efficient AWD powertrain falls short at 8.8/7.6 L/100 km.

The Kia Seltos includes a 2.0-litre four-cylinder in all models except the SX Turbo. This engine outputs 146 horsepower and 132 lb-ft of torque, which is less than the Crosstrek's 2.0-litre. The SX Turbo includes a 1.6-litre turbo that outputs slightly less horsepower than the Crosstrek's 2.5-litre, but does have more torque. However, this engine is available in only one model.

Overall, the Crosstrek has better powertrain choices, availability, and efficiency. But there’s also the fact that all Crosstreks are geared with the Symmetrical Full-Time AWD, which performs much better than the Selto’s available AWD system, giving it the upper hand in tough winter conditions.

The 2021 Subaru Crosstrek offers more where it counts

When it's time to have fun with friends, the Crosstrek invites them all. It features more front leg room and front and rear shoulder room than the Seltos. This combines with a generous 1399 mm/1401 mm of front/back hip room. That's much more hip room than the tight 1347 mm/1240 mm offered in the Seltos.

Several Crosstrek models have standard EyeSight driver assistance features, including Pre-collision Braking, Pre-collision Brake Assist, Pre-collision Throttle Management, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Centring Assist, Lane Departure Warning, Lane Sway Warning, Lane Keep Assist and more.
